At Calcutta Tube Centre, we firmly believe in Mahatma Gandhi’s socio-economic philosophy of trusteeship. Mahatma Gandhi believed wealth should be held in trust for society’s benefit, and people capable of generating it must hold themselves as custodians of it, for the welfare of those who don’t have access to it.

This might sound like a fairy tale, but we are not the only dreamers here. Many Indian conglomerates, including the likes of the Tatas, have embraced this idea, which can only lead to goodwill for companies in the hearts and minds of people. And the results of such endeavors on the part of companies, towards their bottom lines, are visible for all to see.

Rest assured that we take this trust and commitment very seriously. To do our small bit for society and to return the favor, our company has begun and supports many socially conscious and charitable activities, through monetary help and personal time, over the years, which has impacted the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of people.

We also understand that some people may feel indignant at the idea of taking handouts, and they would rather have gainful employment. We are happy to say our company employs many people, who we also support with other facilities, ancillary to salaries, such as health insurance for their families, and educational support for their children, leading to a content and happy workforce. And happy workers are more likely to give their best effort to growing the company.

Another way we contribute to nation building and to society is by paying taxes from our business activities, which must surely seep down to the lower rungs of society through government welfare activities. And isn’t it true that paying your taxes truthfully and regularly is also a form of patriotism.
